Marrakech has become one of the most popular destination wedding cities in the world, and for good reason: riads, palaces, desert camps and near-guaranteed sunshine. When it comes to photography and film, though, prices vary a lot, and quotes are often hard to compare.
This guide explains what a wedding photographer in Marrakech typically costs, what drives the price up or down, and the questions to ask before you book.
The short answer
Based on public price lists from photographers in Marrakech in 2026:
- Hourly rates usually sit around €120 to €200 per hour for one photographer.
- A full wedding day (8 hours or more) with one photographer is often between several hundred euros and €1,000+.
- Photo and film together, with a second shooter or a drone, can reach several thousand euros for international teams.
These are market observations, not fixed prices. Every wedding is different, and the right quote depends on the details below.

What affects the price
1. Hours of coverage
The biggest factor. A ceremony-only package (2–3 hours) costs much less than full-day coverage from getting ready to the first dance. Moroccan and mixed weddings often run late into the night; make sure your package covers the moments you care about.
2. Photography, film or both
A wedding film requires different equipment, a dedicated videographer and many more hours of editing. Booking photo and film from the same team is usually cheaper than hiring two separate vendors, and the result is more consistent because both teams work together.
3. Team size
A second photographer lets you have the groom and bride getting ready at the same time, and both the ceremony and the guests’ reactions. For more than 80 guests, we recommend it.
4. Location and travel
A wedding in a medina riad is simple to reach. A venue in the Agafay desert, the Atlas Mountains or Essaouira adds travel time, and sometimes an overnight stay.
5. Extras
- A pre-wedding or proposal shoot (a hot-air balloon at sunrise is a favourite)
- Drone footage, which in Morocco requires official authorization
- Printed albums
- Same-day edits or fast delivery
- Raw footage or extra film lengths

What a good package should include
Before comparing prices, check that each quote includes:
- The number of hours and what happens if the day runs late
- The number of edited photos (or a realistic range)
- Film length (a highlight film of 3–5 minutes, a longer film, or both)
- Delivery time for previews and the final gallery
- An online gallery to share with family and guests
- Travel costs within Marrakech and to your venue
- Who exactly will shoot your wedding (not just “a photographer from our team”)
- Backup equipment and dual memory cards
How to compare quotes
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Can I see a full wedding gallery, not just highlights? | Anyone can show 20 good photos; a full gallery shows consistency. |
| Have you photographed weddings at our venue or a similar one? | Riads are dark, the desert is bright: experience with the light matters. |
| How do you handle a wedding in two or three languages? | International and Moroccan weddings mix cultures and timings. |
| What is your payment schedule? | A deposit to reserve the date, the balance before or after delivery. |
| What happens if you are ill on the day? | A professional studio has a replacement plan. |
Legal or symbolic ceremony?
Many international couples get legally married in their home country and hold a symbolic ceremony in Marrakech, as the legal process for foreigners can be long and depends on nationality. It does not change the photography, but it changes the timeline: a symbolic ceremony can be held at the perfect time for the light, such as one hour before sunset.
If you want a legally binding wedding in Morocco, contact your embassy or consulate early.
Our advice
- Book early. The best photographers in Marrakech are booked 6 to 12 months ahead for spring and autumn weekends.
- Spend where it lasts. Flowers and decor are gone the next day; photos and film are what you keep.
- Meet before you book. A video call is enough to know if you are comfortable with the person who will spend your wedding day with you.
Frequently asked questions
Is it cheaper to hire a local photographer in Marrakech? Usually, yes. A local team avoids flights and hotel costs, and knows the venues, the light and the logistics.
How far ahead should we book? For popular dates, 6 to 12 months. For smaller weddings and weekdays, a few weeks can be enough.
Do you also film proposals and pre-wedding shoots? Yes. See our guide to planning a hot-air balloon proposal in Marrakech.
